George W.C. Kaye, PhD [1880 – 1941]United Kingdom ICRP Main Commission, Chair (1937) George Kaye was a driving force in the formation and the early years of the International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee (IXRPC), which is now known as ICRP. He was one of the first seven members of IXRPC, served as Honorary Secretary (1928, 1931, and 1934), and was Chairman at the 1937 annual IXRPC meeting. Kaye made fundamental contributions to the development of the System of Radiological Protection that we know today. |

Bo Lindell, PhD [1922 – 2016]Stockholm, Sweden ICRP Main Commission, Chair (1977-1985) Before joining the Main Commission in 1962, Bo Lindell served as Scientific Secretary of ICRP for the 1957-1962 term. He served on the Main Commission with distinction and was elected to chairman in 1977. Sir Edward Eric Pochin, PhD [1909 – 1990]United Kingdom ICRP Main Commission, Member Emeritus (1978-1990) Pochin's international interests lead to his membership in many international societies. In 1959, he became a member, and later Chairman of the ICRP. After his retirement he became an emeritus member until his death in 1990. His association with ICRP and contributions to radiological protection span 4 decades. |

He is chiefly responsible for the modernization of the production of the Annals of the ICRP. Additionally, in 1988 he negotiated the charity status of ICRP in the United Kingdom, a status which ICRP retains to this day. |

David Sowby, B.A., M.D., FSRP [1926 - 2014]Cumberland, United Kingdom ICRP Scientific Secretary [1962 – 1985] David Sowby joined ICRP in 1956 as a member of Committee 5. He has the distinction of being the first full time Scientific Secretary of ICRP, assuming the position in 1962 and retaining it for an incredible 24 years. Lauriston Sale Taylor, PhD [1902 – 2004]Maryland, USA ICRP Main Commission, Member (1928 - 2004) and Secretary (1937 – 1950) Lauriston Taylor had an enormous impact on ICRP. He was present at the very first meeting of ICRP forerunner, the International X-ray and Radium Protection Committee (IXRPC) in 1928. In total, Lauriston served as a member of ICRP in various positions from 1928-1993, an astounding 65 years. |
