I appreciate this opportunity given to the general public to send comments to the ICRP for the radiological protection issue involves not only human beings but also animals, plants and all other living entities on this planet sharing Life. I would like to remind you that the term, “stakeholders” involves those creatures who do not speak human languages but who suffer consequences of the disastrous contamination caused by human beings. They all have the right to enjoy health and happiness living in nature. Keeping all this in mind, I would like to see the ICRP designate 1 mSv as the annual dose limit; recommend the Japanese government to help residents in contaminated areas relocate and guarantee their welfare; recommend contaminated land not be used for agriculture; recommend food contaminated with man-made radionuclides not be consumed, particularly by women and children. I hope the ICRP will stop trying to convince people they can live in radioactive contamination. The ICRP should abandon optimization and justification principles, on which the “co-expertise process” relies, because these principles do not comply with the right to health as stated by the United Nations Human Rights Council determination.
Please remember that future generations will suffer, involving all creatures on this beautiful Earth, if we don’t correct our direction and begin to fortify radiological protection now.
