ICRP Main Commission Meeting
1963 May 8-9 Paris, France
A discussion was held regarding the need to broaden the geographical membership of the Commission. This was agreed upon by the members present. Additional points were related to the need of improving contact with national delegations.
Much of the discussion in this meeting was related to the nature of the relationship between ICRU and ICRP. The Commission opted not to formalise the relationship between the two organisations. Some of the topics included the type of information that the secretariats would share. Some of the areas mentioned were: Useful individuals, lists of obtained documents, and invitations to relevant conferences. Other topics covered by the subject of ICRP and ICRU included sharing of changes in rules and preliminary plans for meetings.
The Commission agreed to prepare a statement regarding Commission publications which would be sent to journals and relevant informational outlets.
ICRU reports of interest to the ICRP were discussed and it was decided that ICRP would monitor the progress of the reports.
Translation of ICRP publications into other languages by ICRP was mentioned as a possibility. A cost assessment was requested to be completed.
It was decided that inviting observers to Main Commission hearings was a good practice.
The dates of subsequent ICRP meeting were confirmed:
October 1963, Feb 1964, May 1965, and
August/September 1965.
