Main Commission Meeting Chilton 1997

Summary

The Main Commission met in Chilton, UK from September 12-13, 1997.

Dr. Harrison unveiled a new ICRP logotype (see below) that had been commissioned by the Scientific Secretary, Main commission Chair and Vice-Chair. The new logotype was to serve as a consistent graphical profile for ICRP. Read more on the ICRP History website’s “Logo” subpage.

Also noted during the meeting was that Elsevier website featuring ICRP Publications was developing quickly with several summaries of ICRP publications were already available to the public.

A document known as History and Policies of the Commission written by Bo Lindell and John Dunster receives much acclaim from ICRP committee and Commission members. The Main Commission requests that a revised version of the document be produced to be circulated outside of the ICRP. The new document will go into great detail about current and past ICRP policy decisions as well as take care to explain the internal structure of the ICRP to an outside audience.

H. John Dunster and Warren Sinclair were appointed as Emeritus members of the ICRP.
