ICRP welcomes new Assistant Scientific Secretary Haruyuki Ogino

2016-03-07

Effective March 7, 2016, Dr Haruyuki Ogino joins ICRP in the position of Assistant Scientific Secretary. Like his predecessor, he comes to ICRP as a cost-free expert loaned by the CRIEPI Radiation Safety Research Center. CRIEPI is the Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry of Japan (www.denken.or.jp/en/), a non-profit foundation engaged in research and development funded primarily by Japanese electric power companies.

Dr Ogino received his doctorate from the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Engineering. In addition to having published a number of scientific papers and making a number of presentations at international conferences in English, he had been Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Asian and Oceanic Association for Radiation Protection (2010-2014) and Secretary of the International Affairs Committee of the Japan Health Physics Society (2013-2015).

Dr Ogino succeeds Dr Nobuyuki Hamada, the second ICRP Assistant Scientific Secretary since March 17, 2014, whose term ends on March 14, providing one week of overlap to facilitate a smooth handover.
