Lauriston 'Laurie' Sale Taylor, emeritus member of ICRP, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 26, 2004. He was the last surviving member of those who participated in founding ICRP in 1928. Recognised throughout the World for the essential roles he played there, in our sister organisation ICRU, and in national US organisations such as NCRP, and for the many years of stewardship he provided in the field of radiation safety, 'Laurie' outlived all of his contemporaries. His death at the age of 102 brings to a close an era that none of us in health physics and medical physics can ever forget.
