Prof Dr Wolfgang Dörr, a leading researcher in radiation effects and radiobiology, passed away suddenly in his home in Vienna on 13 October 2019. He was Professor of Applied and Translational Radiation Biology in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna.
Wolfgang was involved in a variety of international projects and held positions in many national and international organisations, including ICRP. At the time of his passing he was a member of ICRP Committee 1 on Radiation Effects, and a member of ICRP Task Group 102 on Detriment Calculation Methodology. His ICRP colleagues remember him fondly as a preeminent expert, a pleasure to work with, and a force within ICRP. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Elke, and their two sons.
An obituary, and information about his career, in German, can be found at the Medical University of Vienna website.
