Thanks to the kind support of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), for the first time the ICRP Scientific Secretariat will include an intern. This addition will allow the Scientific Secretariat to work more effectively, and will also provide an excellent learning opportunity for the incumbents.
Starting September 1, 2011, Lana Pilecki will join the Scientific Secretariat for a four-month term. She is one of five university students in the CNSC’s co-op program, three of whom will be placed with the Scientific Secretariat for a term during the next twelve months.
ICRP is financed primarily through voluntary contributions from organisations with an interest in radiological protection. The CNSC is one of several national and international organisations that provide annual financial support. ICRP also relies heavily on in-kind support including CNSC providing an office for the Scientific Secretariat located in Ottawa, Canada.
