ICRP Invites Organisations to Nominate Candidates for the Position of Assistant Scientific Secretary

The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) is excited to announce an opportunity for organisations to nominate a staff member for the position of Assistant Scientific Secretary. This is a rare opportunity for individuals to contribute to global efforts in radiological protection, play a key role in the review and revision of the System of Radiological Protection, grow their network, and get an inside view of ICRP.

Since its inception in 2012, the position has been filled through cost-free staff placements, providing a rewarding and beneficial experience for both the individual and the sponsoring organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the ICRP Scientific Secretary & CEO, and working with a dynamic team in the ICRP Scientific Secretariat office in Ottawa, Canada, the Assistant Scientific Secretary will:

  • Serve as Associate Editor for Annals of the ICRP;
  • Coordinate and actively participate in international ICRP meetings, including the biennial ICRP symposia, Main Commission meetings, Committee sessions, and Task Group discussions;
  • Oversee special projects; and,
  • Handle administrative tasks within the ICRP Scientific Secretariat.

This role offers unparalleled exposure to the inner workings of ICRP and its global network of top radiological protection experts.

Terms of Secondment:

A secondment period of at least two years is highly recommended. While the sponsoring organisation will cover salary, benefit, living, and relocation expenses, ICRP will provide a supportive work environment, cover business travel costs, and ensure an enriching professional experience.

Eligibility:

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants will require a Canadian work permit, and ICRP will assist with this process.
