ICRP Chair Werner Rühm Presented Bavarian State Medal for Outstanding Services to the Environment

We are delighted to announce that Dr Werner Rühm, Chair of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), has been awarded the prestigious Bavarian State Medal for Outstanding Services to the Environment. Presented by State Minister Thorsten Glauber on 6 November 2024, this honour recognises Dr Rühm’s significant contributions to environmental protection, public education, and sustainable development.

Minister Glauber commended Dr Rühm for his dedication to "developing concepts for future-oriented and sustainable radiation research," his work in making scientific findings accessible to a broader audience, and his commitment to addressing radiological protection within renewable energy development.
