Dr. Jack Vennart CBE passed away on Friday May 14, 2010. Dr. Vennart served with ICRP for many years, including as Chairman of ICRP Committee 2 from 1973-1985.
Dr. Vennart also formed part of the initial drafting group (with E Pochin, B Lindell, D Beninson, H Jammet and D Sowby) established by the Commission in 1974 that eventually led to ICRP Publication 26. These Recommendations spelled out perhaps the most revolutionary change in the System of Radiological Protection to date, and the fundamental principles outlined therein continue to be the foundation of the System of Radiological Protection today.
